Council areas across Scotland are to share a lot more than £3.2 billion in grant funding over 5 years to deliver more affordable homes.

Local authorities will benefit from an increase in excess of £541 million on the previous 5 year allocation – an uplift of more than 20 percent.

Housing Secretary Shona Robison said: “We have already delivered more than 102,000 affordable homes since 2007. Building on this, goal to provide 100,000 affordable homes by 2032, with at least 70% of those for social rent.

“Meeting this ambition will require continued collaboration across the private and public sectors. I’m very happy to be increasing significantly the accessible affordable housing grant funding for council areas to assist with this important work. The five-year allocations will provide the certainty and assurance the housing sector must deliver the ambitious affordable homes target set out within our Housing to 2040 strategy.”

Housing to 2040, published in March 2021, is Scotland’s first long-term national housing strategy having a vision for which we would like housing to look like and just how it will be presented to the folks of Scotland, no matter where they live and just what point in their life they are at.
