Plans are now being checked out so those who are fully vaccinated will not have to self-isolate when they enter into close contact with somebody who has tested positive.

Under a plan announced today detailing the next steps for Wales easing its Covid restrictions, the Welsh Government said hello is working to take away the requirement of those who are fully vaccinated to self-isolate if they're a close contact of someone that has tested positive.

A ultimate decision is going to be made prior to the next review, due by August 5.

For the time being, if you have symptoms or a positive test result you've still got to self-isolate, whether you've been vaccinated or not, but the Welsh Government said "we recognise self-isolation may cause direct and indirect harms and we will only retain requirements where they remain proportionate and necessary".

"It is our intention to remove the requirement for those who are fully vaccinated to self-isolate if they are a close contact of someone who has tested positive and we'll consult with partners putting additional safeguards in place for people who operate in health and social care settings," the coronavirus plan of action says.

The Welsh Government said discussions are ongoing about the requirements for kids and young adults who are contacts to self-isolate.

Concerns happen to be raised about schoolchildren missing long stretches of school because of contacts within bubbles.

A large number of children among several schools happen to be sent to self isolate en masse after a Covid case in a contact bubble recently. You can read more about that here. Whole year groups won't have to isolate and masks will not be recommended for classrooms in September, the training minister confirmed earlier this month.

Businesses also have reported staff shortages as people have to self-isolate and health boards across Wales will also be experiencing a rise in the number of NHS staff either contracting Covid-19 or having to self-isolate. Some have warned this drop in workforce numbers is putting an added pressure on services that are already stretched to their limits through the dual problem of coronavirus and restarting routine care.

Under new plans in England, fully-vaccinated NHS employees will be exempt from self-isolating when they come into contact with someone with Covid-19.

UK Government health secretary Sajid Javid announced last week that close contacts of individuals in England who've tested positive for Covid won't have to self-isolate should they have received both their vaccinations, or maybe they are under 18 from August 16.

Adults will need to have had their second vaccination at least Ten days beforehand.
