Welsh MP Rob Roberts faces six-week suspension for unwanted sexual advances

A Welsh MP is facing a six-week suspension in the House of Commons after breaching the UK Parliament's sexual misconduct policy.
The Independent Expert Panel (IEP) has published a report , May 25, which finds MP for Delyn Rob Roberts breached the policy when making advances on a male member of staff.
The panel found that Mr Roberts made repeated and unwanted sexual advances for the man, using his position as his employer to place him under pressure to accede. Also, he made inappropriate comments of the sexual nature and was overly intrusive about his personal life.
The panel determined that Mr Rob Roberts MP should be suspended in the House for six weeks but the suspension can only be imposed following a motion in the home.
Sir Stephen Irwin, chair of the IEP has stated: “The misconduct demonstrated here was significant. It is evident that Mr Roberts MP was in a very powerful position as an employer with regards to the reporter. Our conclusion would be that the determination of six weeks suspension in the service of the home was proper and proportionate.”
Mr Roberts appealed the choice that he “shouldn't be punished further because [his person in staff] initially accepted a proper apology then subsequently changed his mind”.
This is not the only real allegation that's been made against Mr Roberts.
In April, Boris Johnson defended the experience taken against Rob Roberts after he earned advances towards a 21-year-old intern even after she made it clear to him she was having mental health problems.
He reportedly asked the intern to "fool around" with him and commented on her "lovely legs".
The BBC reported first the woman reportedly told Mr Roberts that they was struggling with her mental health but he persisted saying: “I only agreed to be thinking about fun times – Maybe if you considered them too it might help you.”

Commenting to ITV Cymru Wales a Conservative Party spokesman said: "We wish to apologise towards the individual concerned for that inappropriate and unwarranted treatment they were subjected to by someone ready of authority.
"There isn't any spot for the behaviour they were put through, and we praise their courage in coming forward. In light of the end result from the Standards investigation, Rob Roberts MP has had the Conservative Party Whip suspended."
